This is a fresh look at how these three chatbot tools stack up for Indian businesses as of September 2026, with updated pricing, features, and an honest assessment of where each one wins.

What changed since July 2026

Three notable updates across these platforms:

• FiveMinChat launched a free plan. Not a trial - a permanent free tier with 100 AI conversations per month, 15 crawled pages, and 1 file upload. This is the biggest change since our last comparison. Previously, FiveMinChat only offered a 7-day trial before requiring a paid plan.
• Tidio raised its Lyro AI add-on pricing. The AI-powered response feature now starts at a higher tier, making the gap between Tidio's free rule-based bot and its AI capabilities wider.
• Chatbase remains largely the same. Their free tier is still limited, and pricing is still in USD only.

Tidio - best for e-commerce with live chat needs

What Tidio does well

Tidio is a mature platform built around live chat with chatbot automation bolted on. Its strengths are real:

• Live chat is excellent. If you have a support team that handles customer queries in real time, Tidio's live chat experience is polished - desktop and mobile apps, typing indicators, visitor tracking, and clean agent handoff.
• E-commerce integrations. Tidio connects natively with Shopify, WooCommerce, and other platforms. If you run an online store and want a chatbot that can show order status or recommend products, Tidio has pre-built flows for that.
• Visual flow builder. The drag-and-drop automation builder is intuitive. Non-technical users can set up basic rule-based flows without writing code.

Where Tidio falls short for Indian businesses

• USD pricing only. Tidio bills in US dollars. At current exchange rates, even their basic paid plan costs Rs 2,400+ per month - and that is before adding AI features. No Razorpay or UPI support.
• Free tier is rule-based only. You get 50 conversations per month on the free plan, but the chatbot is purely rule-based. You write every question and answer manually. There is no AI understanding of your content.

Where Chatbase falls short for Indian businesses

• USD pricing, no INR billing. All plans are in USD. No Indian payment gateway. You need an international credit card or PayPal.

Where FiveMinChat falls short - honestly

• No live chat handoff. FiveMinChat is AI-only. There is no option for a human agent to take over a conversation. If your business requires real-time human support alongside AI, Tidio is a better fit.
• Newer platform. FiveMinChat launched in 2026. Tidio has been around since 2013, Chatbase since 2023. A younger platform means fewer integrations, a smaller community, and less battle-tested edge cases.
• No e-commerce integrations. There is no Shopify or WooCommerce plugin. If you need order tracking or product recommendation flows, FiveMinChat cannot do that today.
• No API access yet. Unlike Chatbase, there is no public API for developers to build custom integrations. What you see in the dashboard is what you get.
